2018 NM Aviation Aerospace STEM Expo
The New Mexico Aviation Aerospace STEM Expo is an educational/diversity outreach event targeting young adults ages 13-21. This event focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while promoting general aviation and the aviation aerospace industry within the state of New Mexico. The Sixth Annual event is Thursday, September 27th, 9 am to 3 pm at the Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport, Alamogordo, NM.
Our mission is to educate and motivate! Our goal is to provide the necessary outreach to each attendee to help them better understand; general aviation, aerospace industry, opportunities for employment in NM and the vital role of the US Military. We want these students to understand firsthand what they need to do to better prepare themselves academically to pursue a challenging career.
Attendees will directly interact with hands on displays while engaging in activities that feature displays in aviation aerospace, over 50 general aviation aircraft, numerous military aircraft, higher education institutions, science demonstrations, flight training schools and other military displays. The students will also have numerous opportunities to talk with pilots, engineers, educators and industry partners who can tell them what careers are available in the aviation, aerospace and military career fields.
Our 2017 event was a huge success with over 2,900 students attending the event. The diverse culture of our state was well represented by the 27 public schools, 6 charter schools and 3 Native American schools from across the state who attended. To date, over 19,000 New Mexicans have experienced our program. Our program is also the largest STEM/Aviation event in the US.
Based on the interest level and awareness of our program, we are projecting student attendance to be between 3000 and 3500. To see the previous videos, go to www.NMAAA.net.
This event is an educational event with military/civilian aircraft displays and is not considered an open house or air show. We hope to see you there!
